CCC long-term targets report: Letter to UK Government and Devolved Administrations

1. Outline

This is a letter from the Chairman of the Committee on Climate Change, Lord Deben, to the UK Government and the Devolved Administrations about the CCC’s forthcoming advice on the UK’s long-term climate change targets.

The advice was requested by ministers in October 2018 in light of the Paris Agreement, and the IPCC’s recent special report on global warming of 1.5°C. The letter, to Claire Perry MP, Roseanna Cunningham MSP and Lesley Griffiths AM states that:

  • The Committee’s report is now well underway.
  • The Committee is engaging widely with stakeholders. It has completed a call for evidence, convened a number of expert advisory groups and initiated a series of new analytical projects.
  • The Committee plans to deliver its report on 2 May 2019.
